Our final stage to Accpac submission

Wan Jun's reflection for the meeting on Thursday, 16 July 2009.

Today, I met up with my groupmates after school to check our final report to see if everything is correct.
Past few days, we have been meeting to figure out how to get our I&E by product statement.
Previously, our figures are all zero.
I went around with weeteng to find the tutors for help.
After seeking help from Mr Koh, we finally know where our problem lies.
In the process, I learnt that we can actually change the Macros in Excell.

So, today we went to print our remaining reports including the theory part of the project. (:
Finally, this marks the end of CAS project. (:

Lastly, I learnt that perseverance is very important in this Accpac project.
Many times, we have to redo or reprint our reports due to saving errors.
This is real tiring as it is very time consuming and we have so many other things to do.
This really test me on my time management skills.
I am glad i have persevere through this tough journey. (:

Wan Jun's reflection for the meeting on 9 July. (:

Met up with my groupmates again on thurs, 9 july to finish up our accpac proj. (:
We finally figured out how to do the void cheque & so after doing, we started printing our whole project.
Stayed in school till 8 plus at night just to print all the required reports. :/
Almost done, but we encountered problem for our I&E by product report. ):
When printed out, it shows all the figures as zero. ):
Gonna meet up again this coming mon, to solve this problem by seeking help from the tutors hopefully.

Also, we are almost done with our theory report. (:
We've been meeting online to discuss the content for our theory report.
Everything went smoothly. (:

Let's hope our group will be able to score for this project, which all of us had put in alot of time and effort in it. (:

Meetings on wednesday & thurs.(:

Wan Jun's reflection for the meetings on wednesday, 24th June & thursday, 25th june. (:

We had project consultation during tutorial with our tutor on wednesday.
We started typing our GL data entry form & we managed to have our queries answered by asking our tutor, Mrs june yeo. (:

After keying in all the GL transactions, opening balances and adjusting entries into the data entry form, we went to amend our recurring entries in Accpac.
I helped in thinking of the entries for the recurring invoices. (:
The reason for going back to the recurring entries is because we realised we had done wrongly for the telephone charges and the repair& maintenance source documents.

Lastly, we started abit on the theory part of cas project. (:

Thursday.
Met up after school for the theory part of our cas project.
We managed to complete some parts of the theory. (:
We still need to add in some more of the application controls as well as the elaborating part.

After all the endless meetings, i am glad to say that we are nearing to the completion of our cas project. (:
We are left with abit of the theory part and doing of void cheques for Accpac.

I have learnt to add links to my cas individual blog on thursday, with the help of my classmate.

Thurs's & fri's meetings.

WAN JUN's reflection. (:

Have been meeting up for the past few days to do CAS proj with groupmates.
I shall start off with thurs first.

THURSDAY.
We did cas from 9.30am to close to 9pm in school. :/
To begin with, wee teng & I went to re check the work that we have done previously, to ensure that there is no mistakes while waiting for the rest to arrive.
Initially, we thought we have to redo our proj cos our session dates were wrong.
Immediately, we went to consult our tutor & luckily, we do not need to redo. (:
We move on to edit our reccuring entries as we realised we have done something wrong.
After that, we started entering AR & AP transactions.
I helped with coming up with the double entries for both AR & AP. (:
By the time we finished entering all the transactions, its already close to 9pm.

Left for home soon after.

FRIDAY.
We met in school for a short while to do our final adjusting entries. (:
Also, we did our unique entry in GL. (:
Lastly, we went back to our GL and enter all the references that we have missed the other time.
I helped in entering the references. (:
Now, we are left with the GL data entry form to fill in, as well as the theory part of the project.

Hope we will get everything done by next week. (:

From these 2 days of doing cas project, i have again learnt that time management is very important.

We need to manage our time properly in order to be fast & accurate in our work, and also in order to not waste precious time.
Sometimes, my group will spent one hour just to think about one problem that we faced and this sure waste alot of our time.
I learnt that we should just seek help from others and proceed with the project without any delay.

Next, the delegation of tasks to groupmates is very important too.
We must know the strength of each group members so as to correctly allocate tasks to each of them.
Delegation of tasks will improve the efficiency of the flow of the project and everyone will get to play a part in the project. (:

third meeting (:

WAN JUN's reflection. (:

Today, we had our cas third meeting in school.
We started setting up A/R & A/P module.
This time round, I was the typist.
This was rather smooth & we managed to finish it in a short while.
We then moved on to GL. (:
We started entering GL transactions & this was where we encountered many problems.
Initially, we didn't realised that the souce documents are not arranged in chronological date order.
It was after we had keyed in several transactions then we realised.
We went to redo all the transactions again. :x
We had some trouble figuring which transactions go into the GL & thus, we spent quite a long time doing this.

I learnt that team work plays a very important part in this project, as this project requires alot of tedious works and meticulous thinking.
Also, not only the person typing must concentrate on the work.
The rest of the members must ensure that everything is correctly keyed in so as to ensure the accuracy of the work.
This will also minimise any redundant effort to redo the project if any errors occur.

WED.

WAN JUN'S REFLECTION on the 2nd meeting (:

Did CAS project with groupmates today. (:
It was the second time we met up to do this project.
The first time was before mid sem test & we only managed to finish half of the chart of accounts.

Today was the second meeting & we decided to redo the whole project due to some errors in our file.
We managed to complete the chart of accounts, keying in the opening balances & entering the recurring entries. (:
Had some difficulties in identifying those recurring entries. :/
Hopefully, we are on the right track!

We will continue our project next tues & wed. (:
Lets hope we will be efficient on both of the days & quickly finish this project.
